Well we've done it again...last night we revealed the latest Uber homepage and a new logged-in homepage with some easy-to-create page building options. These 3 new tools give you one-click access to create a great looking, fun page in just minutes. You can make a slideshow page, a video page, or a blog page.
For all of you advanced users, everything else on the site is still avaiable for you to use but we will be working on making this more integrated with the new stuff over the next couple weeks.
And that is where you come in. We need to hear from you guys about what you think of the new homepage and the 3 new page-creation options. What else would you like to see here? What's missing? Is it fun? Easy? Let us know!
We know Uber offers a lot of advanced options which are sometimes difficult to use and that is why we're now putting out some simplified tools to get you guys making pages more quickly. Now we just need to hear from you about what else you'd like to see so we can get started working on the next set of things!
Hi! I made a new page "Gallery" http://BlueRiver.uber.com/gallery and I named it Bahrain but there is a date appearing after the title which is I really want to delete.....How can I delete it?
Hi there- For now (since we don't have a way to directly do this) here is a workaround...go to your Library and locate the photo folder title with the date on your gallery. Click on the folder. In the far right column, settings will appear, click the Change link under the title. Delete the folder title and instead just enter a space. Then it won't display anything on your page!
I created a new page... but for some reason now when I hit add, it says something about how I don't have that module. I don't get it and I can't figure out how to make my new page part of my site. It shows up in my navigation bar but doesn't work. HELP!!!
Hi there-So when we made all the changes last night, we left off that feature (by mistake!) We will be adding it back very soon and then you'll be able to change it again.
i have no experience with computer design..and so far--I find it easy to get around--although--i am not sure where i am getting around to. ( thats a self depricating joke)
Hey, I'm new to uber and I love it, I just wonder if there will be any e-commerce type solutions available at any point?! Or is there any way that you can code in paypal buy now buttons?
Hi Rose- Right now you can use the Embed module to embed a PayPal store widget on your page, so try that out and let us know what you think. What sort of other options would you be interested in having??
I'm new to Uber and one thing I've noticed missing is the ability to add a java/script-based code. I was able to import my old posts from blogger but I now can't use stuff like my sitemeter, analytics, or non-adsense based ads. Am I missing something or is there an ETA on these features coming before I get too invested with Uber? Thanks
Hi there-You can use your sitemeter code in the HTML module. I would recommend trying both the HTML module and the Embed module for the various types of codes you are trying t use. We will be supporting more types of ads in the future but right now the adsense ones are the only ones we support.
Hi Celine- Right now flash cannot be uploaded to uber. You can however locate another site where this is possible and then add it to your page using the Embed module on Uber. Let us know if you find a site where you can do this, and then we can add it to the list of acceptable embeds!
Hi again, Deviantart.com also supports .swf embedding and is the world's largest online art community. I think it would be a great addition to the acceptable embeds.
Ok here's the 411 (check csfoto.uber.com also). So background image is not visible if there is nothing on the page. Also the footer with copyright link is not showing up.
If I add a module the background will be visible but only for the size of the module. Using a 700px spacer with allow the background to be seen for a 700px background image.
Hi Michael-I would recommend extending the size of your background image to a larger pixel amount so that it stretches further down the page. What size image are you using for the BG currently? I see what you're referring to about the copyright link. Did you enter text for that in the Header/Footer edit window, and what color did you select for that?
The current size of my background image is 1024x796 pix which is not visible at all. I wil go and put a 500pix spacer in there and you will see what I mean (half of the background will be visible).
Data has been entered and is still current in the copyright fields. Color of Footer text is ffcc33 (sunglow yellow).
Ever since the upgrade, I've noticed sites including my own have been thrown 'out of whack' with backgrounds layouts. Care to share an antidote to this unexpected side effect?
