Up and Running
Hey guys-

So as you probably all noticed, stats are back up and running. Hope you're all enjoying checking out the traffic you're getting on your site!

A lot of you have been asking where you can find the option to change your profile photo. In the last set of changes we made, we really tried to scale back on extra stuff on the site, and apparently we took this out along the way. Oops! We work really quickly here at Uber and we want to get the improvements out to you as they come along, so sometimes a little detail might get missed. Don't worry, it will be back very soon! Sorry about that guys.

Once the profile photo is back up, you can go to My Pages, and in the left column use the option labeled Profile Photo to change your picture.

If there's anything else you guys are missing from the previous version of Uber, let us know and we'll see what we can do about getting that back up there!

Stay tuned for more soon.

Thanks,
Nicole

Hi there-If you were using the old navigation that you edited in the Websites tab, you'll need to remove that and add the new nav module. Please read this entry for how to do it: http://howto.uber.com/faq_websites and locate the "eliminate old navigation bar" topic!

Great, thanks a lot. What about adding blogs to index or Photography. Or those blogs out there are selected by uber admins. There's this button "add yours" but I'm not sure how it works.

Hi John-

On the uber magazine page http://www.uber.com/magazine, click the Submit Yours link and then send a message w/ your site URL. Then it can be reviewed by the team and possibly added into the magazine!

Hi,

For a blog/personal website -- I used the html module, entered code, got the preview (yay) but then when I saved, nothing showed up on the page. The RSS mod works great for all of my feeds except one - Variety.com - so I tried the html module instead. Was very hopeful when I got the preview. Help please!

The HTML module only accepts basic HTML code-it won't work with more advanced code including feeds, flash, etc. Try the Embed module instead and see if that works!

Hi John-

Here's how to do the navigation now that we removed the website tab: First you need to remove the old navigation and then add the Navigation module to all of the pages in your site.
To eliminate the navigation, edit your page and click on Header/Footer and then select the Navigation tab. In here, select the option for No Navigation. This will eliminate the old navigation bar (make sure you do this on each page).

Here’s how to get the new navigation module on your pages:

1. With your page in edit mode, click Modules from the editing options and locate the Navigation module. Select it and press Save to add it to your page. Another window will automatically open where you can customize the navigation.
2. In the navigation edit window, your pages will show on the right and the pages in your website will show on the left. Drag and drop each page you want to include in your website to the box on the left. You will see each page add to the list.

Drag and drop pages to reorder the navigation. Make sure your homepage is first in the list. Use the “Add to entire website” button to apply this navigation to all pages in your site.
3. Use the Layout tab to edit the layout of the navigation on this page. Use the Body Styling tab to change the display.

Note: You must edit each page navigation module individually by following the steps above for your other pages.
4. When you’re finished editing the navigation module, press Save and you’ll return to your page. Drag and drop the navigation to where you want it to appear.
5. Click Publish to save your changes. Your navigation bar will now be added to all of the pages you chose, so your pages will all be linked together
6. The final step is setting the homepage of your website. Go back to My Pages and click the Settings link next to your desired homepage. Select the Navigation Options from the Modify this Page menu and check the option for “Use as the landing page for http://sitename.uber.com”. This will set that page as your homepage, which means it’s the first page people see when they come to your website.

We will be launching a new index/browse section soon and it will be very easy to add your page to the category you choose. In the meantime, add the correct tags to your page in the Settings for the page you want to add to the index and when the functionality is available (hopefully this week), you'll be able to enter your page right in!

Great, waiting for the profile photo feature. Another feature missing is the arranging the pages, dragging and drop them in the order the use wants them to appear on the navigation bar of the his site.
And please, tell me how do I add my blog to uber index, photography?
Waiting.
