I write a restaurant review blog called The Kitchen Goddess. I love food, cooking, and eating out so I decided to write about it and tell everyone what I think about the places I eat. I decided to publish my blog on Uber because I wanted to be able to completely customize my page. I'm going to tell you guys how I did it so hopefully you will be inspired to make something of your own!
First I made a background in Photoshop using a picture I found on the web. An Uber page is 988 pixels wide, so that's the width you'll want to use to make sure that it fills up the page. You don't have to use Photoshop though: you can upload any picture to your Photo library and use that as your background. To set your page background, go to Pages and click on the Background button in the light green navigation bar. You can also customize your buttons and headers to say anything you like -- if you want to go all out, use Photoshop to design your buttons, too. As you can see on my page, I changed everything around.
Uber pages are based on modules like photo modules, video modules, friend modules, etc. So since my page is all about my restaurant reviews, the blog module was a crucial component! When you go to Pages, click the Advanced Edit box and then click Modules. That's where you'll find the Blog module. After you add it to your page, click Publish to save your changes. Now you just need to write your first post so when people come to your page there is something to read!
Go to your library and select the Blog tab. Click Write New Post to start a new Blog post. Every post you write will be saved in a dated folder on the left. What I really like about the blog tool is you can insert media and links to websites directly into your blog. Since I write about restaurants I always include a ton of photos and links for the restaurant and the types of food there. To insert media click on the Insert Media button while writing your post. You can grab photos, videos or bookmarks from your Uber library, upload stuff from your computer, or link to external sites. I usually upload all my photos to Uber first and then add them to the blog when I'm ready.
You can also make money with your page using the Google AdSense module! Just create an account with Google and add the module to your page like you did the Blog module. I have to support all these restaurant meals somehow, right?
Uber helps readers find your blog by updating your RSS feed to services like Google and Feedburner each time you publish a new post. Plus you can always send out a message to your mailing list to tell everyone about the great stuff you've got cooking on Uber.
